Government Drone Security

All around the world, governments are having to act fast to keep up with rapid changes in drone technology. As more and more unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) take to our skies, authorities are finding there is a tricky balance to strike between supporting the many benefits drones can bring and protecting citizens, businesses and public interests from the equal number of threats they can pose.

Challenges

Governments are under pressure from two fronts when it comes to regulating UAVs. On the one hand, sectors like construction, agriculture, raw material extraction, logistics and media are rightfully lobbying authorities hard for the freedom to fly drones for uses as diverse as surveying, making deliveries and filmmaking.

But drones also pose privacy and government security threats. As well as safeguarding citizens and commercial interests from a new threat of airborne intrusions, governments also have a duty to protect public figures, buildings and infrastructure from dangers ranging from espionage to terrorist attacks.

From causing massive disruption to civilian and military airspace to filming in sensitive locations to launching direct attacks carrying explosive devices, the imperative to find ways of stopping drones flying where and when they shouldn’t is just as strong as the need to support and enable authorised use.

Proven Anti-Drone Systems

How to stop drones that pose an imminent security threat has proven a difficult task for authorities around the world to grasp. With regulations lagging behind both drone technology and adoption, this has resulted in a mish-mash of laws across nations setting out different rules for different mitigation approaches.

A.I.M’s drone detection and mitigation solutions have been specifically designed to integrate with existing security solutions meaning governments can easily incorporate anti-drone solutions into the security infrastructure offering another layer of protection against rogue or malicious drones.

Detectors capable of obtaining GPS coordinates of selected drones, pilots and flightpaths
Detectors capable of intercepting FPV video footage from selected FPV drones
Detects RF, Wi-Fi and FPV drones
Over 5km drone detection range subject to environment
360 degree drone detection with automatic alerting via SMS or email
Covert drone mitigation effective against all major types of UAV

Early Warning Detection

A.I.M’s DS-8 drone detection systems identify UAV control signals over 5km* away. 360 degree scanning makes the DS-8 systems effective even with very shallow or near-vertical approaches. Once a UAV is identified, remote alerts are automatically sent by SMS or email to allow for instant investigation.

Multiple Drone Types

Each DS-8 unit is fitted with multiple sensors capable of picking up RF, WiFi and telemetry frequencies, providing reliable, accurate detection for selected major commercial drone types. Additional sensors are integrated into out systems to allow for GPS tracking, allowing the flight path of compatible drones to be tracked.

Flexible Deployment

The DS-8 is available in two models, the fixed position DS-8 AI (Artificial Intelligence)  and the mobile DS-8 RD (Rapid Deployment), providing a flexible range of options for detecting drone activity around government buildings but also at public speaking events. The DS-8 RD comes as a complete self-contained unit that is easy to use and manoeuvre and ideal for one-off events.
